Flyktninghjelpen/NRC in Mozambique provides principled aid to reach the most vulnerable communities and address the vulnerabilities identified by these communities. NRC works to ensure that its interventions align with the changing needs of affected populations throughout different phases of displacement, thus fostering a comprehensive understanding of the context and vulnerabilities. Through an integrated approach, NRC prioritises hard-to-reach areas and populations in Cabo Delgado, as well as newly accessible areas and returnee locations. NRC targets both displacement sites and host communities. Sectors include Education, Livelihoods and food security (LFS), Shelter and settlements, Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). The project design is informed by a gender analysis, and all indicators are disaggregated by sex.

Food Security and Livelihoods in Mozambique NPA’s Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) programme in Mozambique provides Multipurpose cash assistance to newly displaced people and returnees, with a focus on the most vulnerable groups. The FSL programme prioritises environmentally sustainable practices and responsible land use and will also support livelihood recovery activities, such as support for small-scale agriculture or market-based initiatives, through for example, the distribution of seeds and tools to internally displaced people (IDPs) who have secured access to land as well as to vulnerable households within host communities identified through conflict sensitivity analysis, based on gender, age, and disability status. Land negotiations and community dialogues actively engage representatives from both host communities and IDPs to promote inclusive decision-making and reduce potential tensions. ----- NORAD

Protection of civilians against Weapons and SGBV in Mozambique NPA Mozambique applies an integrated protection approach that combines conflict prevention and preparedness, SGBV prevention (with gender, age, and disability considerations as a minimum), and housing, land, and property interventions. This enables the organisation to address complex protection challenges in a comprehensive and sustainable way. Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and exposure to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) remain significant protection concerns, particularly for displaced women and adolescent girls. NPA’s approach builds on locally led expertise and nexus programming to more effectively address these risks. An Arms Management and Destruction (AMD) component focuses on strengthening the capacity of defense and security actors to reduce the circulation of illicit ammunition. Where possible, this capacity development also includes support on disposal and clearance of improvised explosive devices, in response to increasing reports of their use and the risks posed to civilian populations. ----- NORAD
