Food Security and Livelihoods in South Sudan NPA supports crisis-affected communities in South Sudan to ensure their immediate food needs are met and to strengthen their self-sufficiency and resilience to future shocks. Working alongside national partners, NPA helps fill gaps in large-scale food assistance programmes funded by the World Food Program (WFP) by facilitating the transport, handling, and distribution of in-kind food support for vulnerable households, including people with disabilities, older persons, displaced populations, returnees, and nutritionally at-risk women and children. Women and girls also participate in nutrition sessions that promote the preparation of diverse, nutritious meals and reduce food waste. Where markets allow, extremely vulnerable households receive multipurpose cash assistance to help them meet urgent food requirements with flexibility and dignity. NPA further supports women and girls through livelihood and empowerment activities. Participants take part in skills training, vocational opportunities, and income-generating initiatives that help them build sustainable livelihoods. Climate-sensitive agricultural tools and inputs are provided to support recovery and promote environmentally sustainable farming practices. Households in affected areas also receive fishing kits that contribute to food security and income generation. ----- NORAD Funding flow detail →

Protection from Sexual and Gender Based Violence in South Sudan NPA’s SGBV programme in South Sudan promotes the safety and dignity of conflict affected women and girls, and people with disabilities by providing survivor-centred case management including psychosocial support and safe referral to other life-saving services, as well as dignity kits to contribute to reducing exposure and enabling full participation in work and education. Referrals are supported by updated referral pathways, ensuring survivors can access coordinated, quality assistance adapted to local culture and market conditions. Community awareness activities engage women, girls, boys and men in prevention of SGBV and disseminate safe information about available services. Women and girls also receive support to address economic vulnerabilities that may increase the risk of SGBV, for example via training in energy efficient stove production and environmental conservation, reducing the SGBV risks associated with firewood collection. NPA further strengthens community protection through awareness sessions and peacebuilding dialogues that promote nonviolence, coexistence, and tackle the normalization of SGBV in the communities. Traditional leaders and community authorities receive training in peaceful conflict resolution to reduce cycles of retaliation and local tensions and communities are trained on practical safety measures, emergency preparedness skills, and information on SGBV life-saving services. ----- NORAD Funding flow detail →
